Beavers Open Big 8 Conference Play With Big Wins Over Modesto and Folsom Lake
ARC Men's Tennis began their attempt to win a 14th consecutive Big 8 conference championship by earning convincing victories over Modesto Junior College and Folsom Lake College by the scores of 7-2 and 9-0 respectively. Against the Pirates from Modesto, the Beavers had a rough start in the doubles, but were able to rally to take two of the three matches heading into the singles. In the singles, ARC was led by Landon Arendt at #1 and Thomas Nosler at #6, taking 5 of the 6 matches. Arendt beat the Pirates' top player, Nathin Dean, in a clinical 6-2, 6-1 performance and Nosler had the most one-sided score against the Modesto #6, Ethan Hoffman, by the score of 6-1, 6-0. Against the Falcons from Folsom Lake, the Beavers scored a 9-0 shutout. ARC was led by Jesus Galvan at the #1 spot, beating Spencer Hamilton in a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 battle. Other solid performances were turned in by Thomas Nosler (#5) and Carson Parent (#6), each scoring flawless 6-0, 6-0 victories. The Beavers will continue conference play against Shasta College on March 4th and then will head to Fresno to play 3 matches in consecutive days against Clovis, Fresno Pacific, and Fresno City.
