Beavers Compete in 50th Annual MJC Invitational
The MJC Invitational is one of the most exciting events of the year, with each player competing in a separate flight against players from other teams representing the same position in their respective lineup. There are six singles flights and 3 doubles flights. The Beavers have won the team event in each of the past nine years, dating back to 2016. In the 2026 event, ARC finished in a tie for 4th place, earning 13 total team points. Highlights for the Beavers included Landon Arendt in Flight 1 singles earning a solid victory in the first round over Landon Bristow (MTSJ) 6-2, 6-1 and splitting sets with the number 3 seed, Jack Van Ness (CAB), before falling in the third set. Jesus Galvan, competing in Flight 2 also earned a decisive first round victory over Ruben Salinas (RC), but also lost a tough 3-setter to the Foothill #2 player, Nathan Nguyen. Rudy Golen (Flight 4) and Thomas Nosler (Flight 6) went the furthest in their respective draws. Each reaching the final before falling to a tough Bakersfield opponent. The Beavers will next face off against Modesto Junior College on Tuesday, February 17 in their first conference dual, a matchup that could go a long way in determining who the Big 8 Conference champion will be.
