ARC Women’s Swim & Dive Leads After Two Days at Miyashiro Invite
The ARC Women's Swim & Dive team delivered an outstanding performance over the first two days of the 13-team Miyashiro Invite, taking the overall lead in dominant fashion.
Sophomore Ashley Johnson highlighted the meet with a record-breaking performance on the 1-meter board, winning the event while setting both a new meet and school record with 266 points. Teammate Bridget Adams also impressed on the boards, earning a third-place finish and marking her best performance of the season.
In the pool, Sasha Samoylovich stood out as the second high-point swimmer of the meet, finishing in the top three in all of her events, including the 200 IM, 100 butterfly, and 100 breaststroke. Macie Banner had a breakthrough meet, posting lifetime bests in multiple events with a 4:21 in the 400 IM, 1:11.19 in the 100 breaststroke, and 2:17 in the 200 IM.
Clara Walker made a strong return from injury, competing after just 10 days out of the water. She delivered solid swims in the 100 and 200 backstroke, including a finals qualification in the 100 back.
The trials-and-finals format of the meet mirrors the structure of the upcoming conference and state championships, providing valuable race experience. With the team competing while fatigued and still posting near-best—or best—times, ARC is showing strong momentum heading into the championship portion of the season.
