Bio

After taking off the 2025-26 season, Coach Macayan returns to American River for his third campaign and is charged with advanced scouting, film and recruit coordination and many other facets of basketball operations. Coach Mark served as an assistant for Giorgi during the 2022-2024 seasons.  Prior to joining ARC,  Coach Macayan served as an assistant coach at Capital Christian and Sacramento High Schools, where he played a key role in capturing numerous league and section titles. Additionally, Coach Mark has worked with numerous top level area AAU programs that have consistently sent players to the NCAA and NAIA levels. 

Coach Macayan grew up playing high school and college basketball overseas and in the Bay Area.  He is passionate about helping players develop and providing opportunities through basketball. Mark is an IT professional by trade as he holds an Associates  degree in Systems Administration as well as multiple IT Certifications from Cisco Systems and Juniper Networks.  He also is a proud veteran of the US Navy.
