BEAVERS DROP GAME 2 VS. CRC
Game 2 between American River College and cross-town rival Cosumnes River College was played in a wind storm on Thursday at Jerry Conway Field and the ball was definitely flying. It looked like it would be a good day for the pitchers in that the wind was blowing straight in from left field but it actually made the ball fly out to right field. Both teams took advantage with CRC starting mostly left-handed hitters and ARC hitting some balls deep into the right field corner. Freshman RHP Ayden Dringenberg (Oakmont) struggled with his command in the wind, walking 5 in just 2 1/3 innings but only gave up one hit. Both teams defense had their struggles with the wind as there were 7 unearned runs in the game. The Beavers out-hit the Hawks 14-6 on the day, with sophomore 2B Lance Sabatke (River City) lacing two triples among his team leading three hits on the day. He and sophomore C Eli Campbell (Cordova) each drove in a pair of runs. ARC and CRC will meet up again at Beaver Field on Saturday for the rubber match of the series beginning at 1:00 pm.
