BEAVERS DROP GAME ONE TO FOLSOM LAKE
Game one at Beaver Field of the ARC vs. Folsom Lake College was moved up an hour to try an beat the incoming rain, which they did, but the Beavers could not beat the Falcons, falling 4-2 in the opener. Folsom Lake got a run in the first inning after a dropped fly ball, a double down the right field line put FLC up 1-0. The Falcons added to the lead off of starter Ethan Palumbo with three runs in the 3rd inning, using 5 straight singles after two were out to go up 4-0. ARC had several chances after that, with the biggest coming in the bottom of the 4th inning. Sophomore 2B Lance Sabatke (River City) led off with a single, followed by a bunt single by DH Rylan Pope (McClatchy). CF Luke Haney (Oak Ridge) was then hit by a pitch while trying to bunt to load the bases. Freshman 3B Jameson Barnes (Twelve Bridges) drove in a pair with a single to left to make the score 4-2. After sophomore C Eli Campbell (Cordova) bunted the runners to 2nd and 3rd, the next two Beavers struck out to end the rally. ARC hit into double plays in the 6th and 7th innings to end any potential rallies there. The Beavers had one more big chance as sophomore LF Jackson Nichols (Valley Christian) tripled down the right field line with one out, but Sabatke's liner to center was too shallow to score Nichols and Pope struck out to end the inning.
Palumbo threw 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and freshman RHP Zach Laduzinski (Whitney) threw three scoreless innings in relief.
The two Los Rios Community College District schools will meet up on Thursday at Folsom Lake College at 2:00 pm.
