BEAVERS TAKE SERIES OVER FEATHER RIVER WITH COME FROM BEHIND WIN
It was the first time that ARC and Feather River College have played a three game series against each other and this year it came out in the Beavers favor, as they pulled out a 7-3 come from behind win at Beaver Field on Saturday. Though it was the first three game series, the two teams usually meet up once a year this same weekend. The game on Saturday started out as a pitchers duel, with freshman RHP Brandon Pelechowicz (Yuba City) in total command through the first two innings. He began to run into trouble in the 3rd inning, giving up three runs. He made up for some of that by lining a two run double down the right field line in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The score remained the same until the bottom of the 7th inning when sophomore LF Rylan Pope (McClatchy) led off with a walk. Sophomore 3B Luke Haney (Oak Ridge) followed with a bunt down the third base line that was thrown away allowing Pope to get to third and Haney to 2nd. Sophomore C Grant Fletcher (Yuba City) then hit a chopper to short to tie the game, and moving Haney to third. After sophomore SS Bryce Sabatke (River City) was hit by a pitch his brother, 2B Lance Sabatke (River City) singled to left to give the Beavers a three run lead. The Beavers broke it open in the 8th inning with a two run double to right by Pope, who was then doubled in on a hard grounder down the 3rd base line.
After Pelechowicz came out of the game on the mound after 5 innings, sophomore RHP Kaden Clive (Delta) came in and shut down the Golden Eagles for 2 2/3 innings. Sophomore RHP Ethan Palumbo (Antelope) came in and got the last four outs to pick up his first save of the season.
It will be a busy week for the Beavers as they travel to Solano College on Tuesday, then host the Falcons on Thursday. The Beavers then head to Salinas to play Hartnell College on Friday and Saturday, returning in time for Super Bowl Sunday.
