Beavers Earn Tough Sweep at Home

Beavers Earn Tough Sweep at Home

March 20th, ARC and Sacramento City College met up for the first time this season. Matches were held at Sacramento Softball Complex, the home host and practice site of both Sac City and ARC.

ARC and SCC started off the morning with pairs 2 and 4. Margaret O'Brien and Maya Mishchuk made their pair debut at the 2s for ARC, defeating Azua/Talamoni 2-0. Kaylee Astacio and Gwendolyn Hansen continued the fast start for the Beavers with their own 2-0 victory in the four slot. This first wave clinched the dual for ARC as Sac City did not field a 5s pair, giving ARC the point at that slot.

The second wave of the dual kicked off with another pair debut, Aurora Meneghetti and Maddy Rossman. The new partnership beat SCC's Climo/Scroggins 2-0 to put the Beavers in position for a team sweep, something that has only happened 3 other times this season. Lillie Miranda and Maddy Seabury met Sac City's talented 1s pair in a back-and-forth physical match that went the distance. After dropping the first set 12-21, Miranda/Seabury came storming back in the second winning 21-16. ARC was able to ride the wave of momentum to establish early control in the 3rd and took the decisive set 15-11.
