Beavers can't hold big lead, fall to Mission 10-9

American River College was primed to snap their four game losing streak on Tuesday, taking a 9-3 lead into the 8th inning but Mission College had other plans and used their potent lineup to score two runs in the 8th and 5 in the 9th to win 10-9.  The Saints got on the board early as sophomore RHP Collin Carriger (Bella Vista) struggled with his command early and allowed 2 runs on just one hit in the 1st inning.  He settled down after that and the Beavers came back with a run in the 1st and two in the 3rd to take the lead.  Mission tied the game in the 5th off of Carriger, but lefty Ryan Marcoccia (Del Campo) did a great job getting the Beavers out of a jam.  The 6th inning was good for A.R.C. as they put 6 on the board to take a 9-3 lead.  Sophomore C Casey DeMello (Valley Christian) chopped a bases loaded single through the right side to drive in two runs and sophomore 1B Steven Langley (El Camino, pictured) produced a two run single to put the Beavers up 9-3.  The RBI's gives Langley 12 on the season which is currently 2nd in the state.  Sophomore RHP Austin Jacobs (River City) worked a scoreless but shaky 7th inning but then he allowed two runs in the 8th to make the score 9-5.  The Beavers brought in closer Nick Perry (Rio Linda) who hadn't given up a hit in his first three appearances on the season.  After a leadoff walk 5 of the next six batters got hits, including two doubles and the Saints scored 5 times to go up 10-9.  The Beavers went 3 up, 3 down in the 9th and the victory was gone.

A.R.C. travels to Salinas this weekend to face Hartnell College on Friday and Saturday.
